The Masai Civilization

The Masai were an early African people who learned to domesticate cattle. They lived and moved around modern-day Tanzania. However, they were nomads who moved when they needed to find water for their cattle during the dry season. In fact, the Masai were very reliant on their cattle and herds, to the extent that their wealth of an individual was measured by the size of their herds.

As one can see, the Masai took advantage of the savanna where they lived to the fullest, traveling to keep their food source alive. Of course, the savanna is not an optimum place to herd, and the Masai did not grow and expand enough to become a more innovative and successful civilization.
