AFRICA
How Geography Affected the Development of the First Civilizations and it's People Today
Eastern Africa is made up of two regions: East Africa, including Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, and the Horn of Africa, including Somalia, Djibouti, Eritrea, and Ethiopia ("Eastern Africa").
The Horn of Africa is has a variety of different geographical climates, from the Ethiopian Highlands to the Oganden Desert. The Horn of Africa is a peninsula that is bordered by the Red Sea, the Gulf of Aden, and the Indian Ocean. ("Eastern Africa")
Eastern Africa is a region of contrasts. It contains the tallest peak in Africa, Mt. Kilimanjaro, as well as another tall mountain, Mt. Kenya. It also features the Great Rift Valley, a deep canyon created by tectonic movements. More famous landmarks in Eastern Africa include Lake Victoria, the world's second largest freshwater lake, and Lake Tanganyika, the world's second deepest lake. ("Eastern Africa")
The land is very fertile in Eastern Africa, and is ideal for farming and agriculture. Apart from this, it also sports a wide variety of animals native to this region, including wildebeests, lions, leopards, rhinoceros, cheetahs, and gazelle. As such, Eastern Africa has many great tourist attractions, and is a major component in the Kenyan, Tanzanian, and Ugandan economies ("Central Africa").
